DPWH Ousts Legal Officer Over Alleged Abuse Of Security Guard

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon has confirmed the dismissal of Atty. Mikhail Tupaz, a legal officer of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), following reports of abusive behavior.
According to Dizon, he acted on information relayed by Senator Raffy Tulfo that Tupaz had cursed at a subdivision security guard who refused him entry. The official allegedly went further by having the guard arrested, despite the latter only carrying out his duties.
“Effective today, I have relieved Atty. Tupaz of his position. I will give you copies of the relief order that I signed today,” Dizon announced.
He also encouraged the guard and his wife, who sought Tulfo’s help, to file a formal complaint with the DPWH so the case can be properly investigated.
Dizon stressed that the department will not tolerate abusive conduct from its officials.
