Duterte's Children In The Hague Share Emotional Message After Visiting ICC Detention Center
Photo credit: Congressman Paolo “Pulong” Duterte
For the first time since his detention, all four children of former President Rodrigo Duterte—Paolo, Sara, Sebastian, and Veronica—came together in The Hague to visit their father at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Congressman Paolo “Pulong” Duterte shared a photo on his official page showing him with his siblings in the Netherlands. Alongside the photo, he wrote:
“We carry hope in our hearts that one day, distance will fade and we’ll be whole again with our father. We love you, Pa.”
The visit comes months after their father, former President Duterte, was arrested in March and transferred to the ICC to face crimes against humanity charges over the controversial war on drugs during his presidency. The campaign, which drew international attention, has been linked to thousands of alleged extrajudicial killings.
The photo of the four siblings together—Paolo, Vice President Sara Duterte, Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, and youngest sister Veronica “Kitty” Duterte—offers a rare glimpse into the personal side of the former president’s ongoing legal battle. Their message reflects deep longing, underscoring that beyond politics and courtroom proceedings, this remains a family enduring separation and uncertainty.
As the ICC process continues, many are watching closely—not only for its political implications but also for the human story unfolding behind one of the most high-profile cases in Philippine history.
