Eala Advances To Jingshan Open Round-Of-16 After Hard-Fought Victory

Filipina tennis standout Alex Eala has secured her place in the Round-of-16 at the 2025 Jingshan Tennis Open, following a straight-sets win over Belarusian Aliona Falei, 6-3, 7-5. The match took place Tuesday afternoon in Jingshan, China, with Eala, the tournament's top seed, overcoming a determined Falei in a contest that lasted nearly two hours.
Eala started strong, quickly establishing a 3-0 lead in the opening set. Despite a late rally from Falei to hold serve, the Filipina maintained her composure and closed out the set 6-3.
The second set proved to be a more challenging affair. Although Eala once again broke Falei's serve early on, the Belarusian fought back, tying the set at 2-2. A sequence of five consecutive service breaks ensued, with both players trading momentum. However, Eala's composure in the clutch moments was evident as she held serve at 5-5 and then broke Falei to seal the match and her spot in the next round.
With the victory, Eala continues her strong 2025 campaign, which has seen her climb significantly in the WTA rankings and achieve several career milestones. She will now face Japan's Mei Yamaguchi in the Round-of-16.
