Eala Edges Kawa In Grueling Suzhou Opener

Suzhou, China – Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala demonstrated both grit and composure in a true gut-check match today, navigating a difficult three-set battle to advance at the Suzhou Ladies Open.
The young phenom was tested for two hours and 27 minutes on the hard courts of the Sungent International Tennis Center, ultimately finding a way to turn the momentum just in time to outlast veteran Polish opponent, Katarzyna Kawa.
In a tightly contested first-round match, Eala secured the initial set 6-3. However, Kawa rallied to take the second set 3-6, pushing the contest into a decisive third set. With the match hanging in the balance, Eala held her nerve and secured the final set 7-5, sealing the hard-fought victory and earning her spot in the next round of the WTA 125 tournament.
