The Office of the President has announced a significant appointment, bringing in former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. (Ret.), to serve as the Special Adviser and Investigator of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).

General Azurin, who recently retired from the PNP, will step into his new duties once he wraps up his personal and administrative arrangements. The administration is banking on his extensive experience and leadership to bolster the ICI's mission.

Acknowledging Outgoing Service

This change follows the departure of Mayor Benjamin Magalong, whom the President specifically thanked for his service. The President acknowledged Mayor Magalong's crucial work in maintaining the integrity and credibility of the Commission, noting that his efforts were "vital" to the government's ongoing fight against corruption in infrastructure projects.

Strengthening the Anti-Corruption Drive

The administration expressed strong confidence that General Azurin’s background will be key to strengthening the Commission's mandate. The ICI is at the forefront of the campaign to ensure accountability and transparency in the use of public funds allocated for infrastructure. His appointment is seen as a move to further intensify the scrutiny and investigation of potential anomalies, ensuring public trust in the country's development projects.
