The family of Carl Jayden “CJ” Baldonado confirmed on Tuesday night that the 18-year-old student has passed away, a week after being struck by falling plaster from a building in Tomas Morato. He was one of three students caught in the incident.

In a deeply emotional message on social media, CJ’s father expressed both his sorrow and gratitude for the brief time they were given to say goodbye. He described the pain of laying a child to rest as “the most difficult thing for a parent” and thanked his son for putting up a brave fight.

“Masakit pero alam ko lahat may purpose si Lord. Samahan mo kami palagi sa mga pagdadaanan naming pagsubok, Kuya. Mahal na mahal ka namin sobra,” he wrote, adding a promise to look after CJ’s siblings and their mother.

He also shared a video of CJ, recalling his son’s love for family, and vowed that they would continue to seek accountability for what happened. His post ended with the words: #JusticeForCJ.

CJ’s death has left his family devastated and has once again highlighted concerns over building safety after the tragic accident that injured him and two others.
