FILE
Commuters using the MRT-3 can now enjoy free public Wi-Fi at all stations, according to an announcement from Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Aguda.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader push to improve digital access and connectivity in public spaces. Secretary Aguda also shared that work is ongoing to enhance Wi-Fi connectivity inside the train cars themselves. The goal is to ensure passengers can stay connected to the internet even while on the move.
Beyond the MRT-3, the DICT has plans to expand free internet access to other key transport hubs. According to Secretary Aguda, airports, seaports, and major bus terminals across the country are also expected to have free Wi-Fi soon.
The rollout is seen as a step toward improving the daily experience of commuters and travelers, while also supporting the country’s digital transformation efforts.
