Petron Corporation, the country’s largest oil refining and marketing company, once again takes the driver’s seat as the official fuel partner of the 2025 DOE–Petron Fuel EcoRun.
Nearly 70 vehicles—from traditional internal combustion engines (ICE) to hybrids (HEV, PHEV) and full battery electric vehicles (BEV)—hit the road to prove their efficiency in real-world driving conditions.
Powering Performance, Backed by Science
All hybrid and ICE-powered participants ran on Petron XCS and Petron Turbo Diesel, fuels trusted by millions of Filipinos:
• Petron XCS (95-octane premium gasoline): With Tri-Activ Technology, it boosts mileage and power while protecting engines with advanced detergents that keep combustion clean and efficient.
• Petron Turbo Diesel: Packed with an advanced additive system, it delivers stronger pulling power, restores lost performance, protects sensitive CRDi parts, and reduces harmful emissions.
“By powering this EcoRun with our best-in-class fuels, we demonstrate that efficiency begins at the pump,” said Lubin B. The Run That Proves a Point
The EcoRun covered a 156-kilometer stretch of the TPLEX, starting at Petron TPLEX Northbound, turning at the Rosario, La Union rotunda, and finishing at Petron TPLEX Southbound.
While not a competition, the event served as a showcase of how various vehicle technologies stack up on the road. With Petron fuels ensuring all ICE-powered vehicles ran on the same benchmark products, results remained fair, credible, and consistent.

Petron isn’t stopping at fuels. With EV charging stations at TPLEX stops, the company is pushing a future-ready energy mix—supporting both traditional fuels and cleaner alternatives.
This year’s run continues a tradition that began in 2016 and 2017, when Petron also fueled the DOE EcoRun. Back then, the initiative raised public awareness about fuel efficiency and gathered valuable data that shaped industry-wide improvements.
