Giorgio Armani Passes Away At 91: The Visionary Who Redefined Fashion
The fashion world is mourning the loss of one of its greatest icons. The Armani Group has announced, with profound sadness, the passing of its founder and creative force, Giorgio Armani, who died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.
Known affectionately and respectfully as Il Signor Armani, he remained active until the very end, working tirelessly on collections and future projects. His dedication to his craft never waned, and his influence on fashion—and beyond—remains unparalleled.
Over a career spanning five decades, Giorgio Armani shaped a vision that extended far beyond clothing. He brought elegance and simplicity into every aspect of lifestyle, always staying ahead of the times with clarity, pragmatism, and an unyielding curiosity about the world around him. His approach created an enduring dialogue with the public, making him not only a revered designer but also a cultural figure admired for his humanity and generosity—especially toward his beloved Milan.
Founded fifty years ago, the Giorgio Armani brand has always reflected its creator’s values: independence, integrity, and patience. These principles will continue to guide the company, upheld by his family and long-time collaborators.
A funeral chamber will be open to the public on Saturday, September 6, and Sunday, September 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Via Bergognone 59 in Milan, inside the Armani/Teatro. In line with Mr. Armani’s wishes, the funeral itself will be held privately.
