In a strong show of leadership and concern for her constituents, Pampanga Governor Lilia "Nanay" Pineda personally visited Sta. Rita in Lubao to assess the extent of the damage caused by the recent collapse of a portion of the dike road. The damage was triggered by the powerful current from the Porac Gumain River, raising alarms for nearby communities.
"Tingnan mo naman ang mga taong masasalanta… yung pananim, yung agrikultura, yung mga bahay at ari-arian nila. Kung mawa-wash out ito, ano naman ang mangyayari sa kanila?" said Governor Pineda, visibly concerned about the risks faced by residents, farmers, and landowners in the area.
Accompanied by PEO Engr. Noli Pangan and PGENRO Arthur Punsalan, the governor wasted no time in recommending immediate temporary mitigation measures while pushing for long-term and sustainable solutions to prevent further damage and displacement.
The inspection was conducted in close coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the local government of Lubao. The Provincial Government and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) remain on high alert and are closely monitoring the situation.
Amid the ongoing threat, Governor Pineda’s swift response and hands-on approach reflect her continued commitment to safeguarding the welfare of every Kapampangan, especially in times of crisis.
