Mark your calendars, folks—Malacañang has just made it official. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared Monday, May 12, 2025, a special non-working holiday across the country.

This move was made under Proclamation No. 878, giving everyone a chance to participate in the midterm elections without worrying about work or school. The proclamation aims to encourage voter turnout and make sure that every Filipino has the time and opportunity to cast their vote.

So yes, that Monday is a long weekend, but more importantly—it’s your time to make your voice heard at the polls. Whether you’re voting for senators, local officials, or party-list groups, your vote counts.

Don’t forget to plan ahead, bring your valid ID, and know your precinct. See you at the voting booths on May 12.
