MANILA, Philippines — Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz is stepping into a new arena — the classroom. The country’s weightlifting champion announced that she will soon begin teaching at the University of the Philippines College of Human Kinetics (UP-CHK), marking a fresh chapter in her already inspiring journey.

“It’s a new path, a level-up opportunity to become a lecturer at UP CHK!” Diaz shared enthusiastically, posting about her meeting with the college’s executive board as she prepares for her teaching engagement starting January 2026.

When asked why she decided to teach, Diaz gave a heartfelt answer:
“Because I want to keep learning, and I hope my students will learn from me too.”

Diaz said she is helping design a curriculum aimed at promoting and developing weightlifting in the country — something she’s long dreamed of doing. “Designing a curriculum to promote and spread weightlifting has always been a dream. I’m excited and nervous, but ready to give my best,” she wrote.

From lifting barbells to shaping minds, Diaz said this new chapter is all about giving back and inspiring the next generation of athletes. “I love weightlifting, and I’ll keep doing my best to grow and share the sport I love,” she said.

The Olympic champion expressed gratitude to the university for the opportunity, saying, “Thank you, UP, for welcoming me and believing in what I can share. Excited to start this new journey.”

Come January 2026, Diaz will officially join the UP community — not just as a sports icon, but as a mentor shaping the future of Philippine weightlifting.
