House Says No Secrets As Calls Grow To Livestream 2026 Budget Talks

The House of Representatives is pushing back against any hint of secrecy, insisting it wants the 2026 national budget bicameral conference fully livestreamed for the public to see.
Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong was clear and confident on Tuesday: Speaker Bojie Dy has been consistent from Day 1 — the bicam talks must be broadcast live.
For Adiong, transparency isn’t just a nice-to-have. It’s a non-negotiable.
“Ultimately, pera ng bayan ito,” he said. “People deserve access every step of the way as we identify priorities for 2026.”
He added that livestreaming the bicam is simply a continuation of what the House already started: open, accessible, and fully transparent budget deliberations.
“From pre-budget hearings all the way to the BARSc, lahat ’yan naka-livestream. That has always been the direction,” Adiong stressed.
That’s why he found Senator Raffy Tulfo’s recent claim — that some House members supposedly oppose livestreaming — “strange.” According to him, the House has been united on this issue from the start.
Manila Rep. Ernesto Dionisio backed him up, saying he hasn’t heard a single House member object to making the bicam discussions public.
“I don’t think there should be any question about it,” Dionisio said, adding that the position of Speaker Dy and Appropriations Chair Rep. Mikaela Angela Suansing has always been crystal clear: open the process, let the people watch.
Both lawmakers expect the House leadership to announce soon who will represent the chamber in the bicameral conference committee — and they’re confident those officials will carry the same message:
No secrets. No backrooms. Livestream it.
