It's Official: Comelec Wraps Up Senate Canvassing - Proclamation Set For Saturday
The Commission on Elections (Comelec), sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), officially completed the canvassing of votes for senators and party-list groups from the May 12 midterm elections.
After going through 175 certificates of canvass (COCs)—including votes from overseas—the poll body has finalized its tally. These were spread across three days: 58 on Tuesday, 101 on Wednesday, and the remaining 16 on Thursday.
And now, all eyes are on the “Magic 12”—the senatorial candidates who secured enough votes to earn a spot in the Senate. Leading the pack is Sen. Bong Go with over 27 million votes, followed by former senator Bam Aquino and Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
Here’s the full list of the top 12:
1. Bong Go – 27,121,073 votes
2. Bam Aquino – 20,971,899
3. Ronald dela Rosa – 20,773,946
4. Erwin Tulfo – 17,118,881
5. Francis Pangilinan – 15,343,229
6. Rodante Marcoleta – 15,250,723
7. Panfilo Lacson – 15,106,111
8. Vicente Sotto III – 14,832,996
9. Pia Cayetano – 14,573,430
10. Camille Villar – 13,651,274
11. Lito Lapid – 13,394,102
12. Imee Marcos – 13,339,227
On the party-list front, Akbayan topped the count with over 2.7 million votes. They’re followed by Duterte Youth, Tingog, 4Ps, ACT-CIS, and Ako Bicol.
While the canvassing is complete, Comelec says the results are still subject to auditing, just to make sure everything checks out.
Comelec Chair George Garcia also made a big announcement Thursday night: the proclamation of the winning senators will happen Saturday afternoon. A formal resolution confirming the date is expected to be issued today, May 16.
