Jobs, Food, And Health Top Pinoys' List: What Makes Voters Say 'Yes' To A Candidate In 2025

When it comes to winning the hearts (and votes) of Filipino voters in 2025, one thing is clear—advocacies matter. A lot.
The Social Weather Stations (SWS), in partnership with Stratbase Consultancy, recently confirmed the results of their April 11–15, 2025 national survey, and the findings show what many of us have probably felt all along: voters are looking for leaders who will champion real, everyday concerns.
In the face-to-face survey of 1,800 registered voters across the country, respondents were asked what kinds of advocacies would definitely or probably make them vote for a candidate in the upcoming May 2025 elections.
And the verdict?
Top priority goes to jobs, food security, and healthcare.
A whopping 93% of respondents said they would vote for a candidate who pushes for more job opportunities. Tied with that, another 93% would vote for someone focused on boosting agriculture and ensuring food security. It’s a strong signal from voters that economic survival and self-sufficiency are front and center this election season.
Healthcare came in strong too, with 91% saying they’d support candidates who aim to strengthen the health care system—not surprising after years of pandemic fallout and the growing cost of medical services.
• Other top-performing issues include:
• Supporting OFW welfare and workers’ rights – 88%
• Tackling poverty and hunger – 87%
• Controlling prices of basic goods and services – 85%
• Improving access to education – 85%
It’s also worth noting that climate action is gaining traction: 83% would vote for a candidate who addresses climate change and disaster preparedness.
Meanwhile, fighting illegal drugs (80%), energy security (79%), and defending the West Philippine Sea (78%) are also on voters’ radar—though slightly behind the more urgent bread-and-butter issues.
And what about corruption? Still a concern—73% of voters said they’d back someone who prioritizes fighting graft in government.
This Stratbase-SWS survey reminds us that while big-picture policies and diplomatic issues matter, Filipinos are still looking for candidates who can deliver real, practical solutions—especially when it comes to putting food on the table, finding decent work, and keeping their families healthy.
So for those planning to run in 2025, take note: Speak to the people’s needs, not just their ideals.
