PHILADELPHIA, PA — Jordan Brand is making a major move by announcing the opening of its first U.S. flagship retail location, the World of Flight Philadelphia. This isn't just a new store; it's a dedicated retail experience centered on basketball culture and rooted deeply in the city's rich hoops heritage.
The new space, set to open at 1617 Walnut Street on October 10, is described as Jordan Brand’s pinnacle retail concept. Designed to be a warm, soulful destination, World of Flight will showcase premium product collections, exclusive styling, compelling storytelling, and unique brand experiences. It represents the brand’s sixth global flagship, following successful international openings in places like Tokyo, Milan, and Seoul, and marks the beginning of an ambitious expansion plan across key U.S. cities.
A Nod to Legacy in the City of Brotherly Love
Choosing Philadelphia for the U.S. debut holds significant meaning for the brand.
"As Jordan Brand enters its next era of greatness, we do so with an eye for furthering our connection to our community," said Sarah Mensah, President, Jordan Brand. "Opening our first World of Flight door in the United States in Philadelphia, where Michael Jordan played his last game and Jalen Hurts is redefining greatness on the football field, is emblematic of the stories, legacy and achievements we continue to create and uplift."
The location is a vibrant tribute to the City of Brotherly Love’s thriving basketball scene and its diehard fans of the storied 76ers. Housed in a historic Beaux Arts building from the early 1900s, World of Flight Philadelphia aims to forge authentic connections with fans through community events, high-heat product drops, a curated co-creation experience, and the brand’s broadest available assortment of footwear and apparel.
Deepening Community Connections
The store’s mission extends beyond retail. Jeremy Bolds, GM, North America, Jordan Brand, emphasized the goal to "further unite the energy of Philadelphia with MJ’s greatness." He added that they are committed to serving this basketball-demand market not only with an incredible experience but also through programming that elevates local athletes, artists, and creators.
The opening deepens Jordan Brand’s longstanding commitment to the city, where it established its first class of Wings Scholars in 2015 and continues to work with partners like the Jalen Hurts Foundation. Jordan Brand athlete and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts expressed his support, noting, "Jordan Brand has done so much work supporting youth and organizations in the Philadelphia community over the last 10 years, and now World of Flight is going to be a special experience for everybody that comes through."
The doors open at 10 a.m. on October 10, with a public Jordan Brand Block Party scheduled for 4 p.m.
