La Nina Is Over; PAGASA Says We're Back To Neutral, But Stay Cool In The Heat
FILE
After months of La Niña bringing above-normal rainfall in parts of the country, it’s official—PAGASA says we’re now in an ENSO-neutral phase. This means the sea surface temperature anomalies (SSTAs) in the central and equatorial Pacific have leveled out, and La Niña-like weather patterns won’t be sticking around much longer.

So, What Does This Mean for Our Weather?

With La Niña out of the picture, those intense rains in parts of Luzon, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and northeastern Mindanao are expected to ease. At the same time, we’re still in the middle of a warm and dry season, so temperatures will remain high, and the risk of heat stress is something we should all be mindful of.

PAGASA’s ENSO Alert and Warning System Status is now “INACTIVE”, meaning neither El Niño nor La Niña is expected to develop in the next three months. We’re likely to stay in this neutral phase until at least the September-October-November 2025 season.

Stay Cool and Hydrated

With the ongoing heat, PAGASA reminds everyone to take precautions—stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and take necessary measures to minimize heat-related health risks.
Of course, climate conditions can change, and PAGASA is keeping a close eye on any developments. So, keep those updates coming and stay weather-wise!
