The camp of former Bulacan Assistant District Engineer Brice Hernandez has filed a petition for a writ of amparo with the Pasay City Regional Trial Court, seeking protection for their client. The move comes as Hernandez faces what his lawyer calls serious threats to his life and security.

Attorney Ernest Levanza is asking the court to order the Senate to provide a verified report within 72 hours regarding Hernandez's current detention at the Pasay City Jail.

The petition also requests that Hernandez be transferred back to a custodial facility at Camp Crame, Quezon City, and be included in the government’s Witness Protection Program. Levanza stressed that the threats are real, especially after Hernandez testified before Congress and named several high-profile individuals allegedly involved in a flood control scandal.

“This is an extraordinary remedy we have availed for the benefit of our client considering the threat to his life, security, and liberty,” Levanza said, adding that the threats became active after Hernandez's congressional revelations. “This is not speculative. This is real. There is a threat and there is a threat to the security of Brice.”
