It's a bright new chapter for 169 families in Novaliches, Quezon City, thanks to the efforts of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) and its corporate social responsibility arm, the One Meralco Foundation (OMF).
The initiative recently brought safe and reliable electricity to households across six different barangays through OMF's Household Electrification Program. This isn't just about flipping a switch; it's about providing fundamental access to power that can transform daily life.
The milestone was celebrated with a special lighting ceremony, attended by a host of officials from Meralco and OMF, as well as local government representatives, including Quezon City 5th District Representative Patrick Michael Vargas and Senior Citizen Partylist Representative Rodolfo “Ompong” Ordanes. OMF President and Meralco Chief CSR Officer Jeffrey O. Tarayao was also present for the momentous occasion.
The emotion from the residents themselves was palpable. Families shared their profound gratitude and excitement, recognizing that this program is much more than a convenience—it's a path toward a brighter and more hopeful future for their communities.
As Meralco and OMF highlight, their work is about more than just wiring homes. By providing electricity, they are directly helping to unlock opportunities for education, livelihood, and a better quality of life for many Filipinos.
