LTFRB Chairperson Atty. Teofilo Guadiz III is cracking down hard on reckless public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers, especially those dubbed “kamote” drivers—yep, the ones who treat road rules like mere suggestions. Following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s push for stricter road discipline, Guadiz says it’s time to clean up our streets.

“The President is right. This has to stop,” Guadiz firmly said. “These drivers are a threat to public safety, and we will take them off the road.”

The move follows a string of viral road incidents—most recently along Commonwealth Avenue and in Valenzuela—where careless PUV drivers were caught endangering lives. The LTFRB isn’t just sitting on this. They’re teaming up with the LTO, MMDA, and LGUs to hunt down these violators and make sure they face real consequences.

And here’s the kicker—operators who allow these dangerous driving habits to continue? They’re in trouble, too. Guadiz made it clear: repeated violations could lead to franchise revocations.
“We are moving now—not after another accident,” he warned. “Operators, consider this your warning: control your drivers or we’ll do it for you.”

More field inspectors will be deployed, and enforcement coordination is being amped up. Because for Guadiz, it’s simple: driving a public vehicle isn’t a free pass to endanger lives—it’s a responsibility.

“If you’re reckless, you’re out,” he stressed. “Public transport must be safe. That’s non-negotiable.”
