LTO Cracks Down On Viral Motorcycle Stunt Rider, Suspends License For 90 Days

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has wasted no time in acting against a motorcycle rider caught performing dangerous stunts on a public road—a spectacle that quickly went viral on social media.

Following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to go after erring motorists, and under the leadership of Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon, the LTO preventively suspended the rider’s license for 90 days.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II said the agency’s social media team flagged the incident after videos were widely shared on Facebook. In the clip, the rider was seen standing on a large motorcycle and even dancing, all while letting go of the handlebars—a risky display that Mendoza called “dangerous from any perspective,” especially since it was done on a public road.

The LTO has also issued a show cause order (SCO) to the motorcycle’s registered owner, a woman from Manila, asking her to explain in writing why she should not be penalized and to help identify the stunt rider. The big bike has been placed under alarm status, preventing any transaction involving it until the investigation is resolved.

The rider faces charges of reckless driving and being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle. If the owner fails to attend the August 19 hearing or submit the required explanation, the LTO will proceed to decide the case based solely on the available evidence.
According to Mendoza, the swift action aims to send a clear message: reckless stunts on public roads have no place in ensuring the safety of all road users.
