The ground shook once again in Davao Region after a magnitude 5.8 earthquake hit the town of Manay around 10 a.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 14), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The quake’s epicenter was located about 101 kilometers northeast of Manay, with a depth of 10 kilometers.
While no major damage was reported, the tremor was felt as Intensity I in several areas including Davao City, Digos City (Davao del Sur), Malita and Sta. Maria (Davao Occidental), Nabunturan (Davao de Oro), and Malungon (Sarangani).
Phivolcs confirmed that Tuesday’s tremor was an aftershock of the stronger offshore earthquake that struck Davao Oriental last October 10.
Authorities continue to monitor for possible aftershocks, but no tsunami warning was issued.
Residents are reminded to stay alert and follow safety protocols in case of further tremors.
