Major Suspect In Kidnapping And Murder Of Chinese Businessman Anson Que Nabbed In Boracay
FILE
Authorities have arrested one of the key suspects in the kidnapping and killing of Chinese businessman Anson Que and his driver, Armanie Pabillo.

The suspect, identified as Gong Wei Li, also known by the alias “Kelly,” was nabbed along with another individual, Wu Ja Ping, during a joint operation by the Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and the National Security Council (NSC) last Saturday. The two were found checked-in at a popular hotel-resort in Station 2, Boracay.

Authorities say “Kelly” played a critical role in the crime, acting as the ransom negotiator and managing the transfer of over ₱200 million to various e-wallet accounts during the abduction.

During the arrest, four cellphones were confiscated from the suspects. These are now being examined for possible evidence or clues that could further solidify the case and link them to other accomplices.

Earlier, three other suspects were already taken into custody, including another alleged mastermind, David Tan Liao. Liao reportedly gave an extra-judicial confession implicating not just himself but also Anson Que’s own son, Alvin, in the crime — a shocking twist that added more complexity to the case.

PNP Chief, Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil, is expected to hold a press briefing this morning to reveal more details and updates on the investigation.

It’s a case that continues to unfold with many eyes watching closely, as authorities dig deeper into what appears to be a chilling crime driven by betrayal, greed, and high-stakes negotiation.
