The announcement came following an IBA Board of Directors meeting held in Manila on October 1, 2025 — the anniversary of Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier’s epic fight in 1975.

During the ceremony, Pacquiao was presented with the IBA badge and congratulated on his new role. IBA officials expressed confidence in Pacquiao’s leadership, noting his global popularity and commitment to the sport.
