President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has accepted the resignation of Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel Bonoan, effective September 1.

Bonoan stepped down as the department faces scrutiny over flood control projects, following Marcos’ directive in his July State of the Nation Address for the DPWH to submit a list of projects undertaken in the past three years.

The President has appointed Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon as the new DPWH chief. To ensure continuity at the Department of Transportation, Atty. Giovanni Lopez was designated as Acting Secretary.

Malacañang said the changes are aimed at ensuring uninterrupted service and leadership in both departments as the administration pursues its infrastructure priorities.
