Marcos Orders Lifestyle Check On Officials Amid Flood Control Project Probe

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered lifestyle checks on all government officials as part of the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
The directive was confirmed by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO). The lifestyle checks aim to determine whether officials are living beyond their declared means, particularly those involved in infrastructure projects currently under scrutiny.
The order comes in response to reports of anomalies in certain flood control projects, including possible overpricing and misuse of public funds. These projects are considered critical for mitigating flooding during typhoons and heavy rainfall.
The lifestyle audits will apply to all levels of government service and will be implemented alongside existing internal audits. Agencies such as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Office of the Ombudsman are expected to take part in the process.
No specific timeline for the implementation has been announced. The measure forms part of the administration’s broader effort to ensure accountability and integrity in public service.
