President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has announced that the government will return ₱60 billion to the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), funds that were previously remitted to the national treasury. The move, he said, will allow the state health insurer to expand and strengthen its services for Filipinos.

Speaking during his visit to Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital in Santa Cruz, Manila today, Sept. 2, the President explained that the decision was made possible through government savings collected from various agencies, particularly the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

“This is a step to make sure that the people directly benefit from the savings we generate,” Marcos said, adding that the fund realignment underscores the administration’s commitment to prioritize health services.

The returned funds are expected to provide PhilHealth with greater capacity to widen its coverage and improve the delivery of healthcare support nationwide.
