Caloocan Mayor Along Malapitan has firmly denied allegations that he attempted to buy votes ahead of the upcoming elections. The issue came to light after the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) issued a show cause order related to an incident involving the distribution of ₱3,225 at Galino Court.

In a statement, Mayor Malapitan clarified that the activity in question was part of the city’s regular “Agapay sa Manggagawa” program, which he said had received the necessary approval from COMELEC.

“You can count on me to work hand in hand with COMELEC and our people in promoting a fair and honest election,” the mayor said.
Aside from Malapitan, several other local officials and candidates were also issued Show Cause Orders by COMELEC in connection with vote-buying concerns.
