Antipolo City woke up to heartbreaking news today.

Mayor Jun “Andeng” Ynares didn’t mince words as he strongly condemned the horrifying incident that unfolded this morning at Purok 1, Zone 8, Barangay Cupang, where seven lives were tragically taken inside a bakery.

Mayor Ynares called the crime “truly shocking and deeply saddening,” stressing that the violence was senseless and completely unnecessary.

“Mga kababayan,” he appealed, “especially now as we celebrate the spirit of Easter, let’s embrace peace, understanding, and compassion in our daily lives. Let’s work together to build a community where violence will never have a place.”

He encouraged everyone to honor the memories of the victims by choosing to live peacefully, showing kindness, and helping one another for the betterment of all.

“We deeply sympathize with the families of the seven victims, our fellow Masbateños,” Ynares said. “You are in our thoughts and prayers. We are truly sorry for your loss—made even more painful because it was at the hands of someone they knew, who has now surrendered to authorities.”

Authorities have since arrested the suspect, who reportedly turned himself in. According to initial reports, the suspect claimed he attacked the victims because he believed they were plotting to harm him.

The Antipolo Police and Rizal Police Provincial Office are currently handling the case.

Mayor Ynares ended his message with a powerful reminder:
