Megaworld commuters are in for a quieter, cleaner ride as the property giant teams up with Movem Electric, Inc. to usher in a new era of eco-friendly public transport across its townships.

Movem Electric — the electric mobility arm of Meralco — has officially kicked off the electrification of Megaworld’s Citylink bus fleet. The first e-bus has already been deployed in McKinley Hill, Taguig, and another unit will soon hit the roads in Newport City, Pasay this December.

This is only the beginning. The long-term plan includes rolling out e-buses to Uptown Bonifacio and Megaworld townships in the Visayas, with nine more units scheduled to arrive by 2026.

Each e-bus can carry 24 seated and 11 standing passengers, quietly operating beside Citylink’s existing diesel buses — which will be gradually phased out as the shift to electric expands. Movem will also install EV charging infrastructure to keep the growing fleet running efficiently.

Megaworld’s Head of Estate Management Don Earl Caagbay said the partnership marks a big step in the company’s push for sustainable, future-ready communities.

“This partnership is a vital step toward fulfilling our vision of building sustainable townships across the Philippines… This is just the beginning,” Caagbay said.

Movem COO Maria Francesca Defensor echoed the commitment, saying collaboration is key to transforming urban mobility.

“We are committed to supporting Megaworld in accelerating their electric mobility initiatives. Working with like-minded partners helps drive the country’s journey toward cleaner and greener transportation,” she said.
