If you’ve ever driven around Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), you know how chaotic the roads can get—especially during peak travel seasons like Holy Week. To help ease the situation, Meralco, led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, has been hard at work clearing up the mess of dangling wires along Andrews Avenue in Pasay City.
The month-long operation aims to improve road safety and smoothen the flow of traffic for motorists heading to and from NAIA. With a surge of travelers expected, Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga emphasized the importance of the cleanup.
“The clearing operations of dangling wires in our facilities around NAIA is important, especially with the expected surge of travelers who will pass through the area during the upcoming Holy Week,” Zaldarriaga said.
Beyond just making the roads look neater, Meralco’s anti-urban blight campaign is all about public safety. The power company continues to work closely with local government units to ensure that its franchise areas remain free of hazards while also maintaining a reliable electricity service for its eight million customers.
So if you’re traveling this Holy Week, expect a smoother drive near NAIA—thanks to Meralco’s cleanup efforts!
