Meralco Powers Up PH's EV Revolution At 13th Electric Vehicle Summit

PASAY CITY, Philippines — Meralco is charging full speed ahead toward a cleaner and smarter future.
At the 13th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit held from October 23 to 25, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center Manila, the Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) reaffirmed its commitment to accelerate the country’s shift to sustainable mobility.
With this year’s theme, “Charge Ahead, Ignite the EVolution,” the event highlighted how electric vehicles (EVs) are quickly becoming a mainstream choice for both consumers and businesses.
Meralco showcased its Electric Vehicle Adoption Program, a cornerstone of its push for a more energy-resilient and eco-friendly Philippines. The program rests on three key roles:
• As an Enabler: Meralco ensures a reliable EV charging network.
• As a User: It’s electrifying its own vehicle fleet.
• As a Player: It operates commercial charging stations and forges partnerships to boost nationwide EV adoption.
In his welcome message, Meralco Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ronnie L. Aperocho emphasized the company’s pivotal role in driving this transformation.
“Electric mobility is no longer a distant vision—it is here, it is real, and it is transforming the way we move and power our lives. Every charging station built, every vehicle electrified, and every consumer who makes the shift to electric is proof that real change is happening now. At Meralco, we are committed to igniting this EVolution by strengthening the grid, powering EV infrastructure, and electrifying our own fleet,” he said.
Aperocho also stressed that building the future of transportation goes beyond just technology—it requires collaboration and collective effort.
“This is why Meralco continues to support emerging technologies, bridge barriers, and foster industry collaboration in platforms like the Philippine EV Summit, which unites policymakers, innovators, and industry leaders to collectively drive adoption and accelerate the country’s transition to electric mobility,” he added.
