MANILA, Philippines — July 27, 2025 — As power restoration in southwest monsoon-hit communities nears completion, the Manila Electric Company (Meralco), under the leadership of Manuel V. Pangilinan, is stepping up its efforts to support affected families through intensified relief operations.

With electricity service nearly back to normal in most of its franchise areas, Meralco, through its social development arm, One Meralco Foundation (OMF), has mobilized employee volunteers to bring much-needed aid to thousands of families displaced or disrupted by days of torrential rains.

Over 2,600 families have already received relief packs distributed across flood-affected areas in Metro Manila—including Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Pasig, Quezon City, Taguig, and Pateros. Aid also reached communities in Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, and Cavite, including Amadeo, where Meralco employees were seen in action distributing goods on July 26.

While most areas have regained power, Meralco said it is prepared to re-energize communities still dealing with lingering floodwaters as soon as conditions allow. The company assured the public that its distribution facilities remain intact and ready for full operation.

“We are grateful to our customers for their patience and understanding during this period. Our thanks also go out to the Department of Energy and local government units for the strong coordination that helped expedite restoration efforts,” said Froilan J. Savet, Meralco First Vice President and Head of Networks.

Savet emphasized that Meralco continues to monitor the situation, particularly in the remaining flooded parts of Bulacan, and stands ready to act as soon as it is safe.

In the meantime, Meralco is urging the public to stay vigilant and observe electrical safety practices, especially in areas where rains and floods persist.

Customers who experience power interruptions or have other concerns are encouraged to reach out to Meralco via its social media channels on Facebook and Twitter (@meralco), or through the Meralco Hotline at 16211. Text support is also available at 0920-9716211 and 0917-5516211.

Through continued coordination, community presence, and timely action, Meralco remains committed to its mission of delivering not just electricity—but compassion and support—where it is most needed.
