Meralco Wins Global Nod For Sustainability Reporting

Manuel V. Pangilinan–led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has once again earned international recognition after securing a Silver Award at the 2025 Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating (ASRRAT)—marking its sixth straight year of global acclaim for sustainability reporting.
The award was given to Meralco’s One Meralco 2024 Integrated Report, which was cited for its strong alignment with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and its clear presentation of the company’s sustainability strategy, governance practices, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance.
Notably, Meralco’s 2024 report is among the first in the Philippines to adopt both the International Integrated Reporting Framework and the IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures standard, ahead of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s mandated timeline. It also features the company’s first double materiality assessment, measuring Meralco’s impact on people and the planet alongside financial risks and opportunities.
Meralco First Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Raymond B. Ravelo said, “This recognition underscores our commitment to transparency and accountability in sustainability reporting. By embedding climate, social, and governance elements into our disclosures ahead of regulatory timelines, we are not only meeting global standards but also preparing Meralco to navigate emerging climate risks, seize opportunities in the clean energy transition, and deliver long-term value to our stakeholders.”
The report also officially introduced the unified “One Meralco” banner, offering a cohesive view of how the company and its subsidiaries create value across their operations.
Organized by the National Center for Corporate Reporting, ASRRAT recognizes sustainability reports that disclose energy use and greenhouse gas emissions in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
This latest honor follows Meralco’s Platinum Award at the 11th Asia Integrated Reporting Awards last October, reinforcing the company’s position as a regional leader in integrated and sustainability reporting. Meralco’s sustainability agenda, “Powering the Good Life,” launched in 2019, continues to be guided by four pillars: Power, Planet, People, and Prosperity.
