The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) is in full force following the onslaught of Super Typhoon Uwan, deploying teams round-the-clock to restore electricity in hard-hit areas across Luzon.
According to Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe Zaldarriaga, line crews are working tirelessly to bring power back to the remaining customers still affected by outages caused by the typhoon.
As of 1:00 PM today, the number of customers without electricity has dropped to 166,000, a sharp decrease from over 400,000 at the height of the storm on Sunday night. Most of the remaining outages are concentrated in Cavite, Bulacan, and Rizal, while some areas in Metro Manila, Laguna, Quezon, and Batangas continue to experience partial interruptions.
“We appeal for our customers’ patience and understanding as we continue working tirelessly on service restoration. We also enjoin the public to continue observing electrical safety precautions, especially in those areas that experienced flooding,” said Zaldarriaga.
Meralco assured that all available personnel and resources have been mobilized to speed up power restoration while prioritizing safety. The company continues to coordinate with local government units and emergency responders to clear debris, access damaged lines, and reconnect communities as quickly as possible.
Despite challenging conditions on the ground, Meralco’s swift response reflects its commitment to ensuring reliable service even in the face of severe weather events.
