The search for 25-year-old Anthony B. Granada, a law student from De La Salle University – Tañada-Diokno School of Law, came to a tragic end on June 21, 2025, when his remains were discovered in a vacant lot in Barangay Sapa, Naic, Cavite.

Granada had been reported missing since June 8 and was last seen near Ridgewood Premier Condominium along C-5 Road in Taguig City. His family filed a formal missing person report with the Taguig City Police on June 15, prompting an extensive investigation and coordinated search operation.

Authorities recovered the cadaver at around 1:20 PM during the fourth day of continuous search efforts. The operation was a joint undertaking by multiple law enforcement units, including the Regional Intelligence Division 4A, the Cavite Provincial Intelligence Unit, the Naic Municipal Police Station, and other regional intelligence teams. Barangay officials and Granada’s family were present in Barangay Sapa when the discovery was made.

During the inspection of the scene, investigators recovered several personal belongings believed to belong to Granada, including a backpack containing a cellphone and other intact items. Also found was a plastic bottle labeled “Drain Clog Free,” a substance often used to break down organic material. These items were carefully documented and turned over to the family.

Granada’s remains, already in a state of decomposition, were identified by his father through clothing and the personal effects found at the site. The authorities have since confirmed that the deceased is the same individual reported missing earlier in the month.

An in-depth investigation is now being led by the Cavite Forensic Unit, alongside the case’s designated investigator, to determine the cause of death. Granada’s remains have been transferred to Imperial Funeral Homes in Trece Martires for autopsy and DNA testing.

The De La Salle University Tañada-Diokno School of Law released a statement expressing deep sorrow over the loss of their student. The school has been in contact with the family throughout the search and continues to provide support to Granada’s classmates and friends.

Anthony’s brother, Ricky Granada, shared a message online:

“We just want to update everyone that my brother Anthony Granada has been found, but unfortunately he is with our Creator now… In behalf of my family, we want to express our sincerest gratitude to each and everyone for all your support and prayers during this difficult time. Your kindness has been a great comfort to our family. As we navigate this period, we kindly ask for your understanding and respect for our family’s need for privacy to grieve in the moment.”

As investigations continue, the community mourns the loss of a young man remembered for his dedication to justice and public service.
