The southwest monsoon remains the dominant weather system affecting much of the country. As of 3:00 PM today July 28, 2025, two tropical cyclones are also being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Tropical Storm Co-may, formerly known as "Emong," is located approximately 920 kilometers northeast of extreme Northern Luzon. It currently packs maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour near its center, with gusts of up to 115 kilometers per hour. The storm is moving northeastward at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Krosa is located about 2,385 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon. It is significantly stronger, with maximum sustained winds reaching 140 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 170 kilometers per hour. Krosa is tracking north-northwestward at 20 kilometers per hour.

Back home, the southwest monsoon is expected to continue bringing occasional rains to several regions. The Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan can expect periodic rainfall. These rains may be heavy at times and could lead to localized flooding or landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas.

Metro Manila and nearby provinces—specifically those in CALABARZON, Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, as well as the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon—are forecast to have cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rains and thunderstorms. As with the northern provinces, the public is advised to remain alert for possible flash floods or landslides, especially during episodes of moderate to heavy rainfall.

For the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms are expected. While less intense, severe thunderstorms may still bring sudden downpours that could trigger flash floods or localized landslides.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated through official weather bulletins and to take precautionary measures, especially those in flood-prone or mountainous areas.
