An increasing number of local government units across the country have now been placed under a state of calamity, following days of relentless rainfall and widespread flooding triggered by the southwest monsoon, further intensified by Tropical Storm Crising.

Among the areas that have made official declarations are major cities in Metro Manila, including Quezon City, Manila, Malabon, and Marikina City. These urban centers have been dealing with rising water levels, submerged roads, and significant disruptions to daily life.

Outside the capital region, several municipalities and provinces are also grappling with severe flooding. In the Visayas, Cebu City and the towns of Sebaste and Barbaza in Antique have been severely affected. In Palawan, the municipality of Roxas has declared a state of calamity as it continues to experience weather-related challenges.

In Luzon, several provinces have been particularly hard-hit. In Bulacan, the towns of Balagtas, Calumpit, Paombong, and the city of Meycauayan are under a state of calamity due to persistent flooding. Cavite has also issued the same declaration, as has Tarlac, particularly in the municipality of Paniqui.

Rizal province has seen significant damage, with Cainta, San Mateo, and Rodriguez now under a state of calamity as floodwaters remain slow to recede. In Pangasinan, six areas — Dagupan City, Malasiqui, Calasiao, Umingan, Sta. Barbara, and Lingayen — are among those coping with the impacts of prolonged rainfall.

Local officials in these areas have cited the need to unlock emergency funds, expedite relief efforts, and implement immediate rehabilitation measures. Declaring a state of calamity allows local governments to better respond to the ongoing crisis by prioritizing the safety and welfare of affected communities.

As weather conditions remain unstable, authorities are urging residents in vulnerable areas to stay alert, follow advisories, and cooperate with disaster response personnel.
