MRT-3 Rolls Out 4-Car Trains To Ease Rush Hour Crowds

Good news for daily MRT-3 commuters! Starting today, October 17, the MRT-3 management will begin the pilot run of six 4-car trains — a move aimed at making those jam-packed morning rides a little more comfortable.
The new setup is part of efforts to cut long queues and shorten waiting times between stations, especially during the morning rush from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Each 4-car train can carry up to 1,576 passengers per trip — that’s nearly 400 more passengers than the usual 3-car setup. More space means fewer delays and faster boarding for everyone rushing to work or school.
MRT-3 officials said they’ll closely monitor the pilot run to see how the 4-car configuration performs before deciding on its regular deployment.
The MRT-3 management reaffirmed its commitment to improving speed, safety, and comfort, saying the goal is to make every commuter’s ride “faster, safer, and smoother.”
