'No Coup On My Watch': AFP Chief Gen. Brawner Shuts Down Rumors Of Military Unrest

AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr. isn’t mincing words when it comes to the latest round of coup rumors: “No coup shall happen. Not on my watch.”
That was the firm message from the country’s top military officer as he addressed swirling chatter about supposed internal unrest within the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). And if you ask him, it’s all just noise.
“As long as I serve as Chief of Staff, no coup shall happen,” Brawner declared. “We will not be shaken by rumor, nor outmaneuvered by noise.”

“To those who persist in creating instability, I offer this not as a rebuke, but as a reminder: Do not sow doubt among the very ranks that safeguard our democracy,” he warned. “Frustration is not a license to target your protectors.”
He urged the public to be cautious with what they consume and share, especially on sensitive matters like national security.
“Let’s not be adversaries in the same nation we all claim to love,” Brawner said. “Patriotism isn’t about how loudly we speak—it’s about how wisely we choose unity over division.”
