It’s a heartbreaking day for OPM fans. Angelito “Hajji” T. Alejandro, fondly known to many as “Haj,” has passed away. His family confirmed the sad news, asking for privacy as they grieve this tremendous loss.
In a heartfelt post, the Alejandro family said, “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad and Son, Angelito ‘Haj’ T. Alejandro. At this time, we kindly ask for privacy as our family grieves this tremendous loss. We appreciate your understanding and support during this difficult time. To God be the glory.”
Hajji Alejandro, often called the “kilabot ng mga kolehiyala” in his prime, left an indelible mark on the OPM scene with timeless hits like “Nakapagtataka” and “Panakip Butas.” But for his daughter Barni, he was even more than an icon — he was her first hero.
In a deeply emotional tribute, Barni posted a clip of herself singing a part of her dad’s hit song “Ang Lahat Ng Ito’y Para Sa’Yo.” Alongside the clip, she poured her heart out, writing:
“I can’t fathom a life without you. My heart is broken into a million pieces. You were my first love, my hero, my idol. Forever, your Yabs!”
No words can fully capture the pain of losing someone so loved, but through their memories and his music, Hajji Alejandro’s spirit will continue to live on — not just in his family’s hearts, but in the millions who grew up listening to his songs.
