PCG Keeps A Close Watch On Chinese Vessel Passing Through Philippine Waters

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is staying vigilant as it monitors the passage of the Chinese research vessel, “Song Hang,” through Philippine archipelagic waters. Their goal is to ensure that the vessel continues its journey smoothly, without making any unnecessary stops or causing any incidents.
In addition to keeping an eye on the vessel, the PCG is actively communicating with it through radio challenges, seeking to understand its intentions and destination. This is part of the Coast Guard’s ongoing efforts to maintain control over the country's maritime territories.
The PCG is committed to upholding Philippine sovereignty and jurisdiction over its waters. If any vessel is found violating the country’s laws, the Coast Guard is ready to take action, whether through law enforcement measures or appropriate countermeasures. This is all done in line with international maritime law, such as the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), as well as Philippine laws like the Maritime Zones Act and the Archipelagic Sea Lanes Act.
