Petron Earns Top DOE Accreditation, Becomes First Oil Company To Train LPG Pros

Petron Corporation has just hit a major milestone, earning an official designation from the Department of Energy (DOE) as a certified Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) training institution.

This isn't just a pat on the back-it's a significant first for the industry. Petron is now the first oil company in the Philippines to receive this kind of accreditation, underscoring its long-standing dedication to maintaining top-tier industry standards and, most importantly, keeping consumers safe.

The certification was formally received by Petron Vice President for Industrial Sales, Virgilio Centeno, on September 25 from DOE-Oil Industry Management Bureau Director Rino Abad at the DOE Head Office in Taguig.

Centeno expressed the company's commitment, noting, “We are honored to be recognized as a center of safety and excellence in the LPG sector, an industry we are proud to lead through our trusted flagship brands, Petron Gasul and Fiesta Gas. This certification affirms our unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and quality in every aspect of our LPG business.”

What This Means for Consumers and the Industry
This new certification significantly boosts Petron's ability to develop highly skilled LPG professionals. They will now be certifying Qualified Service Persons (QSPs) from their own network, including their refinery, terminals, haulers, dealers, and retail outlets.

It also strongly supports the newly implemented Liquefied Petroleum Gas Industry Regulation Act (LIRA), a law Petron has advocated for since the start. LIRA is all about raising industry standards and enforcing stricter penalties for safety violations-a mission that requires well-trained personnel.

DOE Director Abad highlighted the impact of this move on public confidence. “As more LPG personnel undergo proper training from qualified institutions, consumers can be more confident in the quality and reliability of the LPG products they receive," he stated. He added that the DOE is proud to have Petron as a partner in strengthening the industry for the safe and efficient delivery of services.

Personnel trained through the program will receive a DOE certificate, which is a required part of their licensing process. Petron is already moving forward, with training sessions scheduled to kick off soon for dealers and retailers in Ormoc, Leyte.

This is a big step for both Petron and the DOE in ensuring that the LPG you use is handled and delivered by the most capable and well-trained professionals in the country.
