Manila, Philippines – Philippine officials on the ground are closely monitoring the safety and condition of overseas Filipinos caught in the middle of escalating tensions between Iran and Israel.

As of Tuesday, June 17, Philippine Ambassador to Israel Aileen Mendiola confirmed that one Filipina remains in critical condition following the intense Iranian missile strikes that have battered parts of Israel since June 13. The total number of injured Filipinos has now reached eight, though six have already been discharged from medical care. Another is still recovering from injuries.

“The Embassy is operating round-the-clock,” Mendiola said, noting that Philippine diplomats in Tel Aviv are working 24/7 to respond quickly to any emergencies. “We are fully mobilized to assist our nationals in every possible way during this crisis.”

The missile barrage is part of a wider conflict that flared after Israel launched a military operation targeting Iranian military positions, drawing retaliatory strikes from Tehran.

Meanwhile, in Iran, Philippine Ambassador Roberto Manalo reported that no Filipinos have been hurt so far since the conflict erupted. The atmosphere in Tehran remains tense, but the Filipino community—estimated at over 700 individuals—has not requested repatriation at this point.

“Most of our kababayans here are long-time residents, many of them married to Iranian nationals,” Manalo said. “Still, the embassy remains on standby and ready to assist anyone who wishes to return home.”

Both embassies continue to coordinate with local authorities and the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) as the situation unfolds. Officials urge Filipinos in affected areas to stay alert and in close contact with the nearest embassy or consulate.
