Philippine Stocks Retreat As Heavy Foreign Selling Drags PSEi Lower

Trading activity saw a total value turnover of PHP 9.0 Billion. Market breadth clearly favored the bears, with 129 issues declining against only 79 that advanced, while 45 stocks closed unchanged, indicating widespread selling pressure across various counters.
A key factor behind the day's weakness was the significant outflow of capital from overseas investors. Foreign investors sold shares worth Php 6,200,934,435.29 while only purchasing Php 4,191,253,372.63. This resulted in a substantial net foreign selling of Php (2,009,681,062.66), a clear indicator of cautious sentiment from international funds.
On a sectoral level, performance was mixed but largely negative. The Property sector saw the sharpest decline, falling by 2.03 percent, followed by Services and Holding Firms, which retreated by 1.13 percent and 1.03 percent, respectively. In contrast, the Mining & Oil sector offered a bright spot, surging by 1.45 percent, while the Financials index managed a modest gain of 0.31 percent. The broader All Shares Index also ended lower, dropping 0.43 percent to 3,620.79.
