In a strong show of unity and determination, key government agencies—led by the Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Justice (DOJ), and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)—are tightening ranks to bring justice in the kidnapping and killing of a Chinese national that has sparked national concern.
During a press briefing held on April 11, 2025, at the DOJ Compound in Manila, PNP Chief Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil joined DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla to lay down the latest updates on the case—and more importantly, to assure the public that they’re not taking this matter lightly.
“We’re fully committed,” Gen. Marbil said, emphasizing that the PNP is going all out in its investigation. “Our teams are working hand-in-hand with the DOJ and NBI. We’re sharing information in real time to fast-track the case and make sure those behind this crime are caught and prosecuted.”
Also stepping into the spotlight was NBI Director Jaime Santiago, who welcomed the formation of a joint task force composed of the PNP, DOJ, NBI, and the Bureau of Immigration (BI). According to him, the collaboration is already paying off.
“The public may not always see the work that happens behind the scenes, but rest assured—it’s happening. We’re united by one goal: to deliver justice,” Santiago said.
BI Deputy Commissioner Daniel Y. Laogan represented the immigration bureau in the task force, while Secretary Remulla doubled down on the urgency of the mission. “This isn’t just about solving a case. It’s about making sure our country remains a place where law and order prevail,” he said. Remulla also revealed that the President himself has directed these agencies to stay on top of the situation and act decisively.
Undersecretary Nestor B. Sanares of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), standing in for Secretary Benhur Abalos, also threw his support behind the task group. He stressed the importance of working together, especially in high-stakes cases like this that affect not only public safety but national trust.
The press conference wasn’t just a government affair. Representatives from the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) were also there—and they voiced full confidence in the joint effort.
“We believe this case will be solved sooner rather than later. The community is behind this effort 100 percent,” a spokesperson from the FFCCCII said.
The bottom line? The authorities are united, determined, and moving fast. And they’re calling on the public to stay alert, stay informed, and work with them to make sure justice is served.
