MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) is close to fully restoring electricity in areas affected by Typhoon Uwan, with less than 1% of its customers still without power as of 9:00 p.m. on November 10.
Meralco reported that the number of affected customers has dropped to around 72,000 — down significantly from previous days. Most of the remaining outages are in parts of Cavite, Bulacan, and Rizal, with a few pockets still affected in Metro Manila, Laguna, Quezon, and Batangas.
“Meralco crews and personnel are continuously working to safely restore power to customers affected by service interruptions due to Typhoon Uwan,” the company said in its latest advisory.
The power distributor also reminded the public to remain cautious and follow safety precautions as restoration work continues.
Meanwhile, the One Meralco Foundation has begun mobilizing employee-volunteers to help in disaster response and relief efforts for communities hardest hit by the typhoon.
For those still experiencing power issues, customers can reach Meralco through its official social media pages on Facebook (www.facebook.com/meralco) and Twitter (@meralco), or via text at 0920-9716211 and 0917-5516211. They may also call the Meralco Hotline at 16211 for assistance.
