President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. joined the nation on August 21, 2025, in commemorating Ninoy Aquino Day, calling on Filipinos to reflect on the lessons of history with sobriety, conscience, and foresight.

In his message, the President emphasized that the observance is more than a remembrance of a pivotal figure in Philippine history—it is a moment to reaffirm the values that shape national life. He underscored that the day serves as a reminder to uphold leadership that seeks wholeness, reconciliation, and dignity beyond differences.

“The commemoration of Ninoy Aquino Day brings to light a chapter in our nation’s shared story that continues to echo across generations and public memory. The passage of time has allowed the country to approach this event with greater clarity and, therefore, with a deeper perspective,” the President said.

He noted that history is not simply about judgment, but about guidance. “History invites reflection more than reaction, and from that reflection arises a clearer understanding of civic duty,” he added.

President Marcos Jr. pointed out that the Philippines has undergone profound transformation over the years—shaped by moments when citizens chose to face challenges with resolve. These historical turning points, he said, have molded public discourse on power, memory, and citizenship.

Drawing from his own experience of growing up in a political tradition influenced by these events, the President remarked: “History offers less final judgment than continuing instruction. It sharpens how we serve, how we listen, and how we bear the weight of an office with a greater purpose moving forward.”

He urged public officials and citizens alike to see this day as an invitation to govern and act with sobriety, conscience, and foresight, ensuring that the lessons of the past are woven into the moral framework of national institutions.

“In honoring this day, the Republic signals its readiness to uphold leadership that strives toward wholeness and reconciliation. Through this observance, we advance the work of statecraft—disciplined, steady, and shaped by the enduring imperative to choose peace above quarrel, and dignity beyond differences,” the President concluded.

He ended his message by encouraging every Filipino to have a solemn and meaningful remembrance of Ninoy Aquino Day.
