The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) slipped slightly on Friday, October 17, 2025, closing at 6,089.53, down by 4.14 points or 0.07%, as investors remained cautious ahead of key economic data releases.

Trading activity was relatively modest, with a total value turnover of ₱4.4 billion. Market breadth leaned negative, as 109 stocks declined, 83 advanced, and 56 remained unchanged.

Foreign investors were net sellers for the day, recording ₱2.22 billion in buying against ₱2.44 billion in selling, resulting in a net outflow of ₱225.83 million.

Analysts said the slight drop reflects “investors staying on the sidelines” as they await clearer signals on both global and local economic trends.

The PSEi has traded within the 6,000 to 6,100 range for much of the week, suggesting continued consolidation amid mixed market sentiment.
