The local stock market ended the week on a weak note as the Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) closed 23.09 points lower, or down 1.09%, to 5,988.02 on Friday, October 24, 2025 — slipping below the 6,000 mark once again.

Trading remained heavy, with a total value turnover of PHP 26.2 billion, as investors continued to unload shares amid cautious sentiment in the broader market.

Market breadth leaned negative, with 123 decliners, 75 advancers, and 49 unchanged.

Foreign investors were also net sellers for the day, logging PHP 2.91 billion in total foreign selling against PHP 2.26 billion in foreign buying — resulting in net foreign outflows of PHP 648.36 million.

Analysts say the market’s pullback reflects investor concerns over global economic uncertainties and local inflation pressures, though opportunities remain for selective buying in resilient sectors.

The PSE continues to encourage long-term investors to stay focused on fundamentals despite short-term volatility.
